Grace & Pete

Pete, Grace, Josh, and Jason

Grace is Josh’s cousin; Pete is her husband.  They got married about four months after we did, and they are such a nice couple.  We are thrilled that they made time to come out and see us during their Spring Break road trip.  They ate dinner with us and just hung out for a while.  The kids entertained us a bit.  Poor Pete got cornered by Molly at the end of their time here and had to endure looking at many of our family photo books….gotta love that.  He was so nice to appease her.

It was great to see them.  Grace is expecting their first baby in October!  Very exciting.

They brought the kids cute cookies.  Yum!

I noticed that the one with Ruby’s name on it is the only one left.  I imagine Ruby has a plan.  She ate two tonight that were just decorated.  This one that is left has her name on it.  So tomorrow when everyone wants a cookie, she can say, “But this one is MINE.  It has my name on it!!!”

Mack was in rare form and while we were outside visiting he asked me, “Can I show them how I tee-tee on the grass?”  Then he proceeded to drop his drawers, turn to Molly and say, “See me, ok,” and then tee-tee right there for all the world to see.  What a nut!

Molly nearly lost it several times, but she managed not to totally fall apart while they were here.

Ruby was so sweet and polite.  I heard her say “yes ma’am,” and I heard her speak to them very nicely.  I was very proud of her!  She even fell asleep while we talked in the living room.

Grace and Pete–Thanks for coming over!!!  It was great to see you both.  Can’t wait to meet your baby in the Fall.  🙂

South GA visit, Day Three and Four

Can I drag this out any longer?!  🙂

Seriously, the kids had a sleepover last night….Thank the Lord for good friends…so I got some time to myself.  I roamed Target, got my toes done, ENJOYED QUIET CAR RIDES AND AN EVEN QUIETER HOUSE.  It was heavenly!!!  The main part I enjoyed was the quietness.  I also like getting ready uninterrupted.  From shower to dress to make up and hair—not one single interruption for a snack or to referee an argument or to help someone find their shoe.  It was nice.  Josh and I enjoyed conversations, also uninterrupted.  The kids didn’t seem to miss us one bit.

I wouldn’t have missed me either if I were them having all that fun with the Barsh family.

Ok, back to the never ending Easter weekend posts.

Saturday consisted of an Easter Egg Hunt, good food and more golf cart rides.  The kids each had an area of the yard assigned to them.  Uncle Jason hid Mack’s eggs, Josh hid Ruby’s eggs, and PawPaw hid Molly’s eggs.

They waited inside while the eggs were being hidden.

Uncle Jason hiding eggs.

Why this little boy has to be so grumpy is beyond me.  Most of the time he is laid back and chipper.  All the other times he looks like this.

Who knew an Easter Egg hunt could be so miserable?!

Seriously, this kid may have issues.

Wait a minute.  Is that a smile I see???

Besides the one PawPaw buried, this one was the hardest for Molly to attain.

The kids went inside the porch area to open up each egg and see what was inside.

Money!

Money!

More Money!

All of this treasure hunting reminded me of when we were little and had Easter Egg Hunts at my MeMe’s house.  It seems to me that us little tikes never even had a chance at the Golden Egg that had money in it.  But I’m not bitter.  Nope, not me.

And there was lots of jewelry!

Gran and PawPaw also gave the kids their Easter baskets from them that day.  Fun, fun!

I love the look on Ruby’s face as she takes in the wonderful news that we now have Season 4 of LITTLE HOUSE.  Please note that Molly is just as happy to have Milk Duds.

A snake!

We thought Ruby was the only one who loved Peeps.

We were wrong.  Who knew?!

It’s ok though.  Ruby shared her Peeps.  Mack let Ruby read his book.

And Molly held tightly to her Milk Duds.  Don’t mess with Molly and Milk Duds.

On Sunday morning we all woke up and got ready for church.  Josh and I gave the kids their Easter Baskets then.

Here’s a picture of last year at Easter:

Aren’t they sweet?

And here’s a picture of this year:

Oh my.

We did have a great time with The Dorminy’s down in South GA celebrating the Resurrection of Jesus Christ!

We are now enjoying our Spring Break.  The kids are back home with us. The house is not quiet, nor is the car, but that is more than ok.  We are looking forward to a nice Thursday.  Josh’s cousin and her husband are planning to stop by for a visit tomorrow night while they are in town.  I will have to post pictures!  Until then…..

South GA visit, Day Two

This coffee represents a wonderful part of the weekend.  Gran and PawPaw let Josh and I have the pool house to ourselves while the kids slept inside in a room in their house.  That means several things, one of which is I DID NOT HAVE TO BE THE ONE THAT MADE THEM BREAKFAST EACH MORNING nor DID I HAVE TO BE UP AT 7:00am SHARP OR EARLIER EACH WEEKEND MORNING!  Praise the Lord for that.  It was such a great part of the weekend.  I got up, got ready, walked out and drank some coffee very leisurely.  The kids had already eaten and were well into the morning, comparatively speaking.  Thanks for that, Gran and PawPaw.

The first order of business was to cut down a tree.  Not just any tree, but a very tall pine tree that had been struck by lightning and was doomed to fall, possibly on the pool house.  I thought it should be left to professionals, but what do I know?!  I have learned that whenever two or more of these fellas get together, they just have to get themselves involved in some sort of project that isn’t for the faint of heart.

Doesn’t that look like a very tall tree?!

Uncle Tony, Josh and Mirv discussing what their plan of action should be.

TIMBER!!!!  The tree came down with no problems.  I was pleasantly surprised.

Uncle Tony wasn’t making this face at me, but I bet Irv and Josh wanted to.  O, me, of little faith.

Maybe Josh sent Mack over to me to do this.

Gran kept the kids a very safe distance away from the falling tree.

It was warm down there and had been for about a week or so.  I didn’t, however, bring the kid’s swimsuits because it wasn’t THAT warm, and I knew the water would still be cold.  But, again, what do I know?

My crazy kids swam in the freezing water!

Who needs swim suits anyway?!  We were lucky if they kept their underwear on!

Gran boiled some eggs for the kids to dye.  If she had know how much they liked to eat them, she may have just skipped the dying part.  The kids wanted the eggs to be cracked so that they could eat them instead of dye them!  Stinkers.

PawPaw grilled out hamburgers and hot dogs for us…yummy!

That night we went to their church’s Sports Park where they had a Good Friday service.  We were able to reflect on what Jesus did for us by dying on the cross and then conquering death three days later.  Good News!

South GA visit, Day One

We arrived on Thursday.  The kids were thrilled to get out of the car and run and play at Gran and PawPaw’s house.  They didn’t sleep much on the way down there, and Molly might have aske 8,534 times, “How much longer til we are at their house?”  But we made it safe and sound and that is what matters.

We were welcomed with a cute birthday cake for Mack and me.

We had a yummy dinner, opened a few presents and ate some cake.  I venture to say Ruby had the most cake while we were down there.  She loves birthday cake—hers or anyone else’s.

Mack got some cool Spider Man tennis shoes and flip flop kind of shoes (I found his size at our Target, Gran.)

Gotta love this shot…spider man tank top, spider man undies and spider man shoes!  We forgot his Spider Man watch at home.

And for those of you who just thought we were addicted to LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE….you now know it is true.

Gran made the girls bonnets and aprons.  They love them!!

All of the kids used their pine cone picker-uppers while we were there.  They really enjoyed that!  Better them than me!  I did pick up a good bit of pine cones on Meadowbrook Drive, but those days are long gone.

We got to spend time with Uncle Tony and GG, too!

The Laundry that I didn’t do.

Here are a couple of pictures of my laundry that was washed, dried and folded by SOMEONE ELSE.  I will never forget Josh’s kindness!  He is a great husband.

I smiled the entire time I put away these clothes.  It was a great thing.  Today I have a working washing machine, so I am back in business and can no longer wait on someone to deliver clean clothes to me.

I am about to go watch a concert of Ruby and Molly, but I still have lots of pictures to post!  Maybe later….

We’re Back!

Oh, what a fun weekend we had!  It was more than time to get away and take a trip to Lover’s Lane Road.  There are so many pictures to show you, but tonight I will just share a few.  We are really, really tired.

Our trip started like this:

And ended like this:

Evidently, I wasn’t the only one ready for a nap!  I imagine if I had snuck back in the house after we left I could have snapped a shot of Gran and PawPaw snoozing, too!

Just a few more until later….

Mack continues to make beautiful pictures, too.

Happy Easter!   And Good night.
