The Look

Obviously, I am trying out new looks for the blog.  I would love to have someone design a completely original blog, but that is pretty much out of the question.  I saw this new one being promoted on WordPress.com, so I tried it.  My mom said she couldn’t read the other font size.  Maybe this one will work.  I like it.  Today.  🙂

Fun Food

It usually takes a few days for all of us to “come off” the food high that we get on when we are at either grandparents house.  Mack misses candy and lollipops.  Molly misses chips and chips and chips.  Ruby misses Krispy Kreme doughnuts.

This morning we were about to have breakfast.  I was going to fix eggs and waffles, but Ruby said she would rather have cereal, and really, who am I to argue with that?!  So easy…and besides, we didn’t want a meltdown this morning over breakfast.  I pulled out a variety pack of cereals that Sweetie sent home with us.  It was a HUGE hit.  Ruby started jumping up and down with excitement over these small boxes of cereal.  I gave Sweetie full credit.  Ruby’s response was, “Wow.  Sweetie sure does have a lot of fun food.”

Mama’s Day!

Before we left on Friday, I got my Mother’s Day gifts.  The kids were so sweet (and so was Josh!).

Ruby got me a sun hat.  Molly got me a chair for sunning.  Mack got me a cool firetruck that makes noises….only stipulation is that it has to stay in his room.

We had fun in Augusta this weekend. I really enjoyed hanging out with my parents, sisters and their families.  It was fun.  There are so many pictures that I just don’t know where to begin.  This is the downfall of taking 400+pictures over a very brief time period.  I will post a few of my favorites and try to share some more later.

And last, but certainly not least……

There are sooo many more cute pictures.  I will post them soon, I hope.  For now, laundry is calling.  Wish it would lose my number, but I don’t see that happening.  Hope everyone had a fun Mother’s Day weekend.

Oh, I will mention that one of my favorite parts was holding Mack while he slept.  He is getting so very big.  He turned 3 in March and just won’t stop growing.  We asked him to please stop growing around 8 months, but he does not listen!  I figure my days are numbered that I can hold one of my sleeping children.  I took advantage of it this time.  He tries to cuddle up on you like he is a newborn baby.  He is so sweet.

It was a Happy Mother’s Day for me.

Mother’s Day is coming…

Josh took the kids to Target last night so that each of them could pick out a gift for me for Mother’s Day.  He said Ruby decided very quickly and didn’t waver one iota.  This could be because she listens and remembers the best of all three of them.  I did some minor coaching, but Josh said it may have been in vain.  We’ll see.   Josh said Molly did good AFTER he convinced her that I probably wouldn’t want a purple shirt and purple pants.  For every clothing item she found, she wanted to get me another item of the same color.  Very funny.

And Mack came in from shopping with his finger pointed at me saying, “BEE-MEMBER, issa sooprize.  BEE-MEMBER, issa secret……but I got you a truck.  A big truck.”

Really?

Really.

Josh said he picked out a truck for me and said, “Do you think she will let me have it?”    Oh, how funny!  This Mother’s Day should be a memorable one!  I do love these little people.  They make me crazy, no doubt, but I love them dearly.

Hiding Place

Anyone who has had a toddler knows how funny/ridiculous playing “Hide and Seek” can be!  Ruby introduced me to it when she would hide in the same place over and over and over again, each time sure we wouldn’t find her and so surprised when we did.

Molly would hide wherever Ruby hid.  She’d get mad when Ruby would find her.  Go figure.

Mack and I have hidden many, many, many times in his closet and waited on Josh to find us.  The same closet.  The same very small closet.

I have a new favorite song.  The title is HIDING PLACE.  Sara Groves sings it.

Early when the day is new
Before the stirring
I will come and talk to You
And confess the ways I am broken
To recall the words You’ve spoken
And to try to comprehend
The love You have for me

You are my hiding place
You fill my broken heart with songs
Songs of deliverance
You sing of how the weak are strong

You never meant for me to walk alone
You are always for me
As the truest lover of my soul
You hear my desperate calling
You have kept my feet from falling
And have set me on this rock on which I’m standing now

You are my hiding place
You fill my broken heart with songs
Songs of deliverance
You sing of how the weak are strong

And I believe You
For You’ve saved me from my darkness and my shame
And I believe You
For I hear Your song of beauty over the pain

Psalm 73:28  “But as for me, the nearness of God is my good; I have made the Lord my refuge, that I may tell of Your works.”

Where is your hiding place?  Your “go-to” place that is safe and secure and consistent?

God does not hide from me.  I want to learn more and more to hide IN HIM.

School Room!

My wonderful husband went and picked up a chalkboard that his brother found on craigslist.com.  I have been wanting a chalk board in the school room for a while.  I just hadn’t found one that I loved and that was affordable.  This one is perfect!  The kids are already enjoying it.

With Molly starting Kindergarten in the Fall and Ruby being in 1st grade, I am going to need as many helps as possible to make sure I am an organized, on-task teacher.  I am not sure how Mack fits in to that equation, but we shall surely see.

Maybe I can tie him down in his little chair during school time.  Hmmmmmm….

Title goes here

I have no idea what to title this post, so I won’t.  It is random.

First, caterpillars.  Last week Ruby and Katherine were intrigued by a few caterpillars.  I do not like anything crawling on me…even a caterpillar.  Here are some pictures…

Molly was waiting on a caterpillar to take the bait….

Ruby went so far as to put her caterpillar in a jar and take him to school the next day.  We forgot the whole, “all living things need water” thing, so the caterpillar died all alone in the jar the next day.

But Ruby was cute as a button taking it to school.  She said she wanted her braids to be longer and sit in front of her shoulders like Laura Ingalls’ braids do.  I said, “Oh, Ruby, run fetch some water at the creek, then get in the wagon so Pa can take you to town.” “Oh, Ruby, you will just have to be patient and let your hair grow if you want long braids.”

Mrs. Mary and I enjoyed several hours out and about town together on Thursday.  It was so very fun!!!!  We shopped, we ate, we shopped, we got our toes done, and we talked and talked and talked.  It was so nice.  The Koester family leaves in two weeks for TN!!!!!  I think I am still in denial.  I just can’t imagine how this is going to change things around here!  I am refusing to think about it for too long right now.

I am pretty sure this is the only picture we have together!  I am glad we thought to have Ben snap one of us.

By the way, Mrs. Mary, when Mack woke up from his nap he really liked the gum!

I tried to teach Molly how to blow a bubble.  It didn’t really work.

She is crazy.

More of the same

The days around here are sometimes routine.  Most of the time I like it that way.  Other times it makes me crazy.  I am sure I am not alone in these feelings.

Yesterday we did school, Ruby made a dinosaur out of aluminum foil, Molly asked for 5 million snacks, we had a quick school meeting here, we ate lunch, we played outside.  The thing that was outside of our routine was the way Mack decided to tee-tee twice in his undies AND poop like a grown man on my guest bathroom floor!!!!!  Right beside the toilet.  What in the world was he thinking?????

After I cleaned him up and informed him that he is potty trained,  I sent all three kids out in the yard.  It was best for all of us.  About twenty minutes later I decided I could handle being around them again.  I walked outside and started swinging.  Mack came over and wanted me to hold him.  It was his way of making sure I knew he was sorry, I think.  I held him and swung him.  He fell asleep.  Right there in his SpiderMan underwear, baseball t-shirt and fireman boots while I laid a pink crocheted blanket around him.  The wind was rough yesterday.  It was a sweet moment.  And a moment where I was reminded that this baby boy with two older sisters hardly stands a chance.

When he woke up, I decided to take some pictures.

“Smile, Mack!”

He wanted to be the one taking the pictures.  So I let him…

I had to stop him when all he kept taking was my mid-section.  I don’t know about you, but a thirty something mother of three usually doesn’t have need of a picture of her mid-section.  Am I right or am I right?

We tried some together.

He wanted to be the one pushing the button….

He is so cute.  I can’t help but forgive him for making me clean up behind his nasty self.

Let me leave you with Ruby’s new smile.  It changes weekly!  Her teeth keep falling out.  Hilarious!

And though Molly hasn’t lost a single tooth, she still swears she has six loose teeth in her mouth.  Ruby calls her out on it every time.  “NO you don’t have any loose teeth either.”  She is so kind and considerate, that Ruby.  It doesn’t seem to bother Molly though.  She is convinced she has six loose teeth.

The tooth fairy did a little better this time.  He stole a dollar from his son’s wallet and put it under Ruby’s fairy that was sitting by her bed.

Big Teeth and Hair

Mack is a funny boy.  It is no secret that I have big hair.  It is also not a secret that my teeth are large as well.  🙂  I think Mack has it figured out.  For a while he has seemed intrigued with my hair.  He touches it.  It started off with him telling me that he liked my hair.  Now he tells me I have big, curly hair.  Last night he told me something about my hair going good night, as if it were a separate entity from myself.  ?!  And the past few days, he will pause and look at me when we are face to face (like when I am pulling up his pants or wiping his dirty mouth) and say, “You have pretty teeth, Mama.”  I think we’re moving in the direction of, “Mama, your teeth are big.”  I don’t know what he thinks all the time, but he sure does crack me up.

I found this picture from a few weeks back when it was warmer outside.  He seems to be wanting this little Cabbage Patch Doll to give up some important information.  He’s trying to drown her, it seems!  And, no, that is not a speedo he is in, those are his undies.

Love me some Mackie-boy.

Stuff

We have had stuff going on, but I haven’t had time to blog about any of it.  The Dorminy’s visited this weekend.  Would you believe I didn’t take one single picture?  Shameful.  Friday night was Soccer practice and Mexican.  Saturday Mrs. Debbie and I got to go the Beth Moore conference.  It was fabulous!  We had a wonderful time.  There was plenty said that will keep me thinking in the days and weeks ahead!  Maybe I can share later all of her points on what a secure woman looks like.  So good.

Today I went in Molly’s music class and listened to her sing and watched her with Boomwhackers.  She is learning rhythm and beat and notes, etc.  She totally cracks me up.  She did not smile at all.  She did participate, but not with great enthusiasm.  This is just how Molly rolls.  My friend, Mary, came in and watched Molly, too.  She reminded me that Molly might be like Beth Moore’s assistant….Beth Moore talked about her assistant being very business like and focused, and somewhat non-dramatic.  If you were there, you will remember her talking about her.  OH, that Molly.  “I love the Lord.  I do.”  Molly may say that one day with a straight face and not one single tear.  I’ll just be glad she says it because, if she says it (and I pray she does!), she will most likely mean it from the core of her being.

I don’t realize how big Molly’s hair is until moments like these….wonder where she gets it from?

Molly does have a cute little sense of style…love her jeweled sandals, half painted toe nails and jeans.

Mack showed me his talent while we waited in the hallway.

He is so funny.

Oh, and I meant to mention that Molly has been falling off of her bike a lot lately:

Ouch!

Yesterday I made some Dinosaur Food–Mrs. Honaker sent a recipe home for the kids to try.  They are studying dinosaurs this week.  Did you know the word dinosaur didn’t come about until 1841?  That’s why we don’t see the word in the Bible.  Dragon is in the Bible though.  And did you know that an average sized dinosaur would be the size of a sheep?  Crazy.  There’s more…..but I will move on.  This Dino Food did not look so much like food as, maybe, Dino- Poop!

But they did taste good!

That should bring us up to speed.  Glad you checked in on me after almost a week of nothing!
